About this Event
On camera acting can be a challenge for the young actor whose instinct is to push to “get it right” when what is needed from them is to bring their authentic selves to their work. Getting in front of the camera, each student will receive adjustments and notes that will help students gain the confidence to deliver dynamic, bold and honest auditions that casting directors are looking for! The class will go over the different styles of commercials, and learn how to break down commercial copy as well as tackle longer and more complicated scenes and situations. By using their own inner strength and energy, students will work from a place of complete confidence and let the camera come to them! Sara will also break down the common critique “Less is more!”. Her expert instruction will help the actors perform their scenes truthfully and realistically for on camera work!
Sara Sevigny is a Chicago bred actor, singer, improviser, and playwright who is best known for her work as board member Edna Bunnin on Empire (Fox). Sara also starred as Grace in the film Rogers Park (Critic’s Pick New York Times, 100% Rotten Tomatoes) as well as the hit web series Other People’s Children. Other credits include The Gabriels (Pilot-Series Regular), PopTv’s Hot Date, Comedy Central’s South Side and the film, Cold War.
A proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actor’s Equity Association, Sara has worked onstage with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Lyric Opera Chicago, Paramount, Broadway Playhouse, Chicago Children’s Theatre, About Face, TimeLine, and The Hypocrites. She is also a proud Joseph Jefferson Award winner for her work as Sara Jane Moore in Porchlight Music Theatre’s production of Assassins.
When she’s not acting, you can find Sara at Actor’s Training Center, audition-coaching and teaching on-camera classes, or at the dog park with her pups and her hubs. She also likes unsweetened green tea lemonade, in case you wanted to get her one. It tastes like sunshine.
